Patch Notes - 1.1.5
Ahoy pirates!

We're in the final week of the latest Bilge Rat Adventure – Gunpowder Skeletons! It's your last chance to get all the Doubloons available if you want to ensure you have all the time-limited cosmetics in your inventory before they disappear from the shops. The Commendations and Titles will still be available after the event ends, but the time-limited cosmetics and Doubloons will no longer be up for grabs.

To mark 20 Years of Banjo-Kazooie, players will now be able to purchase a majestic Bear & Bird Figurehead for a very fitting price of 1998 gold! This figurehead is only available during the month of July, so make sure you join in the celebration and purchase it while you can!

This week we've banned a number of players who we've been able to confirm have been cheating. Those players have been contacted via email and we've removed their Sea of Thieves account privileges. We will continue enforcing a zero tolerance policy to this behaviour and taking regular action against any players who are found to be cheating.

Updates

Bear & Bird Figurehead - Now stocked by the Shipwright to celebrate Banjo-Kazooie's 20th anniversary.
Rock the Boat - Upon impact, cannonballs now apply a rocking effect to ships.
PC Exit to Desktop - Players on PC now have the ability to exit to desktop from the front end.
Shop Clutter - Player Titles no longer remain in the shop when purchased, reducing the amount of clutter in the clothing shops.

Performance Improvements

Multiple server and client crash fixes.
Further improvements and optimisations for all platforms are ongoing.
Fixed Issues
Multiple Megalodons will no longer spawn in the same zone.
Megalodon encounter music will no longer be heard on the Ferry.
'Crew Management' and the 'Allow Friends to Join' text is now localised to all languages.
There is no longer an invisible rock in Thieves' Haven.
'Skeleton Exploder' Title now shows the correct icon in the Vanity Chest.
There is no longer a wall on Plunder Valley that players can clip through to see outside the map.
VFX for lighting a gunpowder barrel now correctly appear connected to the fuse.
Players will no longer be teleported back to their ship when they shoot themselves from the cannon on the north side of Devil's Ridge.
Header and footer UI in shops is now consistent with the rest of the UI menus.
The 'More' button on all radials now properly updates when key bindings are changed and will no longer remain the same button.
Resource barrels on ships will not longer periodically restock if they are below the default level.

Known Issues
The 'Gunpowder Plot' Commendation and it's Legendary Commendation counterpart may not unlock.
This issue appears to be intermittent and we are investigating its root cause. We are aware that for some players, retrying the Commendation correctly awards it.
Some players travel in an unintended direction when fired from a cannon.
Bilge Rat Doubloons have not been correctly rewarded to a number of players who earned them through the Skeleton Thrones event.
We are investigating a resolution for this and will share information when available.
The Hungering Deep rewards were not received by a number of players who earned them.
We are investigating a resolution for this and will share information when available.

Patch Notes - 1.1.6
Ahoy pirates!

This patch brings the Gunpowder Skeleton event to a close. These explosive skeletons will still remain in the world, but thanks to your hard work, their numbers have decreased!

Need a way to earn some more Bilge Rat Doubloons? Not to worry, the Bilge Rats have another adventure for you - The Sunken Curse! Along with a new reason for you to explore the watery depths, Patch 1.1.6 brings with it key performance improvements, crash fixes and fixes for known issues.

Official Sea of Thieves Developer Update: July 11th 2018

Bilge Rats Adventure - The Sunken Curse
Rumours of artefacts beneath the waves are being whispered across the Outposts, and as usual the Bilge Rats already know all about it! Underwater statues and dangerous curses are amongst their tavern tales, so take a deep breath before diving into this Bilge Rat Adventure!

Sunken Curse Event – Cursed Mermaid Statues are the latest addition to Sea of Thieves. Hidden in the shallows around island shores, they radiate, cursed with ancient magic. For this adventure, the Bilge Rats are challenging all brave pirates to seek out and destroy the statues. Not all statues are bound by the same curse but they all regenerate health over time and while some will require more firepower than others to destroy, no more than four players will be required to destroy even the toughest statue.
Sunken Items - It's not all malevolent curses in the shallows! Eagle-eyed pirates can also find artefacts, skulls and treasure chests hidden on the seabed ready to be plundered.
The Wailing Barnacle Cosmetics - The Hat, Dress and Jacket of The Wailing Barnacle have been added to the Bilge Rat shop. These items are time-limited and only purchasable with Bilge Rat Doubloons, so get them before they sink back to the depths on the 25th July.
Bilge Rat Titles - Earn three unique titles, introduced with The Sunken Curse event and equip them straight from the Vanity Chest!
Bilge Rat Doubloons - There are 100 Bilge Rat Doubloons available for the standard Commendations, and an additional 50 Bilge Rat Doubloons available for completing the Legendary Commendation and becoming a Legendary Curse Breaker. Each of The Sunken Curse Commendations in the Bilge Rat progress screen detail the amount of Bilge Rat Doubloons it rewards. You have until the 25th of July to earn Bilge Rat Doubloons by completing these Commendations.

Bilge Rat Flag - A new flag has been added to all pirates' flag inventory! This new flag can be used to show other pirates that they're on the hunt for Bilge Rat Doubloons.

Updates
The Wailing Barnacle Tattoo Set - Now available in the clothing shop on all Outposts, this tattoo set is purchasable with gold and here to stay!
Legendary Skeleton Exploder Title - We heard feedback from our community that Legendary Commendations are deserving of a Legendary Title, so we have now introduced the 'Legendary Skeleton Exploder' Title. Existing players who have met the criteria can grab it in the Bilge Rat shop for free. If players unlock the Legendary Commendations required for Gunpowder Skeletons in the future, they will automatically be awarded this Title.
Loading Screens - Now give players information about the latest goings on and what's new in Sea of Thieves.
Front End Animations - Pirate animations have been updated when entering the game through the front end.
UI Update - A small banner is shown on Commendations within the Bilge Rat progress screen when there are Bilge Rat Doubloons to be earned.
Performance Improvements
Multiple server and client crash fixes.
Further improvements and optimisations for all platforms are ongoing.

Fixed Issues
The Hungering Deep rewards which were not received by a number of players who earned them will be awarded over the next few days.
We are rolling out this fix, there will be no in-game prompt so keep an eye in your Customisation Chests for the items and Titles you earned.
Bilge Rat Doubloons which were earned but not rewarded correctly as part of the Skeleton Thrones Bilge Rats Adventure will be awarded.
We are rolling out a fix over the next few days for players to receive Bilge Rat Doubloons which were not awarded correctly for the Skeleton Thrones event.
Upon impact, cannonball knockback no longer causes unintended damage to fellow crew members.
Bear & Bird Figurehead Loading Screen is now localised in all available languages.
Mysterious Stranger conversation text is now correctly localised in German, French, Italian and Spanish.
Ghost Trousers no longer appear broken on certain body types.
Bilge Rat Trousers no longer appear inconsistent when equipped with a peg and mid-length boots.
The Bilge Rat progression UI now correctly counts Gunpowder Skeleton Titles towards the overall Title count.
The option to enable and disable the Player Talking Indicator has been added back into Settings.
Players should now see all their items once they have joined a new server.
Loading Screen tips should no longer be clipping on 4:3 display screens.

Known Issues
The 'Gunpowder Plot' Commendation and its Legendary Commendation counterpart may not unlock.
We are investigating a fix for this issue. The time-limited Gunpowder Skeleton event cosmetics will be available again in the future for any players wishing to complete the set.
Some players travel in an unintended direction when fired from a cannon.
Some players may continue to hear muffled sounds after being fired from a cannon.
We have reports that being fired out of a cannon again clears the muffled sound.

Patch Notes - 1.1.7
Ahoy pirates!

We're in the final week of the latest Bilge Rat Adventure – The Sunken Curse! It's your last chance to get all the Doubloons available if you want to ensure you have all the time-limited cosmetics in your inventory before they disappear from the shops. The Commendations and Titles will still be available after the event ends, but the time-limited cosmetics and Doubloons will no longer be up for grabs.

Patch 1.1.7 brings bug fixes and performance improvements, along with extended lore around the story of Merry Merrick. You may notice the Pennant flags no longer change when you raise a Ship flag... this may be a hint to an exciting change on the horizon.

Many long-time wanderers on the Sea of Thieves will remember Salty, one of the first entrepreneurs to set up shop at an Outpost. He informs the Pirate Times that after many months spent seeking a 'killer' item to sell, he's found something special that will surprise new and old customers alike. Salty even has a new business partner, but is keeping details quiet until it's time to make a splash.

Updates
Merry Merrick - More of Merrick's lore books can be found! This time Merrick recounts the stories from during The Hungering Deep, as well as immortalising his son Derrick in a new family portrait...
Pennant Flags - When raising a ship flag, the accompanying Pennants will no longer be equipped. Pennant flags are returning to the Sea of Thieves very soon, with a new and improved purpose!
Performance Improvements
Improved connection stability to resolve the infrequent Alabasterbeard errors.
Multiple server and client crash fixes.
Further improvements and optimisations for all platforms are ongoing.
Fixed Issues
Changes to pirate appearance (such as hair colour / scars) have been reverted to their initial selection.
Messages in Bottles will no longer spawn on top of one another.
The correct animation now appears when repairing holes in a ship.
Textures of the Sea Dog Jacket now appear as intended.
Caged Pigs and Chickens no longer get the cannonball impact decal applied to them if dropped on to one
Players can no longer drop crates behind the clothing and equipment chest on the Sloop.
It is no longer possible to clip through the Kraken tentacle when it is wrapped around a ship.
Cursed Mermaid Statues have been increased to match the intended model scale.
Viewing textures on Plunder Valley from long distances no longer displays gaps in the terrain.
It is no longer possible to get permanently stuck in the half submerged ship on Plunder Valley .
Athena's Fortune Bounty Quests are no longer incorrectly blank.
The Legendary Gunpowder Title has been removed from the Bilge Rat progression UI due to it incorrectly tracking progress. The Title is currently available to players through the Bilge Rat shop once all 3 Legendary Gunpowder Skeleton Commendations have been completed.
Known Issues
The Gunpowder Plot Commendation and its Legendary Commendation counterpart may not unlock.
The Hungering Deep rewards were not received by a number of players who earned them.
We are investigating a resolution for this and will share information when available.
Some Skeleton Thrones Titles were not correctly awarded to players who completed the required Commendations.
Some players travel in an unintended direction when fired from a cannon.
Some players may continue to hear muffled sound after being fired from a cannon.
We have reports that being fired out of a cannon again clears the muffled sound.
The UI and pirates in the 'Select Your Pirate' carousel may not be visible for some players.
We have reports that the UI and pirates become visible after a few minutes.
Pirates created between Patch 1.1.6 and 1.1.7 may experience a change in their hair colour.

Ahoy pirates!

The Sunken Curse Bilge Rat Adventure has ended, and the Sea of Thieves faces an unusual calm. Rumours abound of a new threat on the horizon, making the shopkeepers of the Sea of Thieves nervous. Word in the taverns is that shops across the Outposts will soon be lowering their prices to encourage sales, so clever pirates may wish to save their coins…

Updates
Great Water - Improved lighting, reflection and movement of water within the ship.
UI Update - Ampersands have been updated to be more visible on loading screens and in UI header fonts.
Performance Improvements
Sinking items now despawn at the lowest depths the player can swim to, instead of sinking beyond. This improves overall game performance.
Multiple server and client crash fixes.
Further improvements and optimisations for all platforms are ongoing.
Fixed Issues
The Executive Admiral Jacket no longer clips on muscular body types.
Flags no longer become detached from flag poles when sailing.

2.0.1

Greetings, pirates! The first full week since we launched the Sea of Thieves Anniversary Update has sailed by at speed, but we’ve spent that time going through your feedback to see what improvements and fixes we can get to you as soon as possible.

With this being our current focus, update 2.0.1 introduces several bug fixes across The Hunter’s Call, The Arena and Tall Tales – Shores of Gold feature sets, adding an extra layer of polish and smoothness to your Sea of Thieves experience.

Read on to find out more!

Fixed Issues

General

  • Players will now consistently be able to see their health bar when bringing up the equipment radial.
  • Improved inactivity detection to better identify inactive players across the Sea of Thieves.

The Hunter’s Call

  • Alliance members will now correctly receive ‘hand in’ notifications when other members of their alliance hand in Hunter’s Call items.
  • Casting a line while swimming underwater is now prevented.
  • Harpoon tethering of an object now behaves correctly through server migration.

The Arena

  • Ship flags shown on the ship's map table will no longer show incorrect iconography following a migration.
  • Player instruments are no longer muted while the tavern and contest countdown music plays.
  • When starting a contest, the scoreboard will now show the correct score when digging up the first chest.
  • Players should now consistently hold onto their clothing and equipment loadout when entering or leaving a contest.

Tall Tales – Shores of Gold

  • Opening a Collector’s Chest while holding it can no longer cause the items inside to ‘pop’ out.
  • Turning a puzzle block while it is underwater will correctly show bubble VFX.
  • Reading a quest book while running in the rain no longer causes visual issues.
  • Items stored inside Collector’s Chests should now always be visible and collectable when moving and reopening the chest.
  • ‘The Shroudbreaker’ – Ambush skeletons should no longer spawn on top of each other.
  • ‘The Legendary Storyteller’ – Players can now see the key on Mermaid’s Hideaway once it is dug up rather than a floating tooltip.
  • ‘The Legendary Storyteller’ – Players losing Briggsy’s Chest before they have removed the quest items will now be informed as to why their Tale has failed.
  • ‘Wild Rose’ – Adjusted a Collector’s Chest dig site to avoid clipping with a barrel placed close by.
  • ‘The Art of the Trickster’ – The Rum Bottle Spyglass should no longer revert to an incorrect model on some occasions when viewed in the radial menu.
  • ‘Revenge of the Morningstar’ – When placing the final Tale Items on the altar, they will now be on the correct plinths and facing in the right direction.
  • ‘Revenge of the Morningstar’ – All crew members should now correctly receive the Morningstar Outfit when retrieved from the Morningstar Chest.
  • ‘The Shores of Gold’ – Compass Vault no longer has areas where players can become stuck in geometry and get teleported out to a safe location.
  • ‘The Shores of Gold’ – Adjusted various areas of the chasm where players could get out or see out of the environment.
  • ‘The Shores of Gold’ – Central rock formation can no longer cause players to become stuck.
  • ‘The Shores of Gold’ – Players who are left behind after their crew engage the Gold Hoarder will no longer create incorrect checkpoints in the chasm after the encounter, causing them to become trapped.
  • ‘The Shores of Gold’ – Players losing the Gold Hoarder’s Coin will now correctly fail the Tall Tale and must return to Morrow’s Peak to restart.
  • ‘The Shores of Gold’ – Skeleton Ships will no longer spawn for crews inside the Shores of Gold shroud.
  • ‘The Shores of Gold’ – Following Tale completion, the Shroudbreaker should no longer reappear attached to your ship when returning to the world.
  • ‘The Shores of Gold’ – Gold Hoarder Skeletons will no longer rudely interrupt the final cutscene if they weren’t destroyed during the encounter.
  • ‘The Shores of Gold’ – Skeletons should now path more predictably outside the Compass Vault.
  • ‘The Shores of Gold’ – Skeletons that spawn inside the chasms will now automatically attack nearby players to prevent crews from raising the capstans without engaging.
  • ‘The Shores of Gold’ – Adjusted timing on the Shores of Gold approach sequence to ensure the island banner audiovisual cue does not clash with the shroud music.

Known Issues

  • Pirate Feature Loss – After Arena sessions, players may find that their pirate loses equipment, clothing and/or vanity chest selections. While players can re-equip most items, this has the potential to affect features such as eye colour, age etc. If you are affected by this issue, please raise a support ticket with our Player Support team for us to address.
  • Collector’s Chest Migration – During any Tall Tale, players who open a Collector’s Chest, leave the chest behind and subsequently migrate may find that their Tale fails.
  • Shroudbreaker Migration – During ‘The Shroudbreaker’ Tall Tale, players who migrate servers after retrieving the Shroudbreaker may not receive Tale progress when returning to the Mysterious Stranger.
  • Incorrect Player Spawning – In rare cases, players may find that returning from the Ferry of the Damned or using a mermaid teleports them to incorrect locations in the world rather than back to their ship.
  • Health Bar UI Delays – When regenerating health from cooked food, taking damage may cause a delay to the health bar update.
  • Sea Dogs Tavern Purchase Delays – Players who purchase an item from the Sea Dog Tavern shop shortly before migrating to a new server will not immediately see the purchase in their inventory. The purchase has been successful, but will only be shown when the player returns to the tavern after their next contest.
  • Missing Phrases on Food Items – Some food items show available phrases in the pirate chat radial, but selecting them will not correctly send them to other players.
